Interface Tourism represents The Ministry of Tourism of Ecuador throughout Europe. We are charged with seeking opportunities for increasing awareness of Ecuador as a tourist destination among high-end European travelers.
When we saw that the Ecuadorian team was drawn against Switzerland in the play-offs for a place in the world group of the Davis Cup we recognized an opportunity to promote Ecuador as a tourist destination to the affluent and growing Swiss tourist market.
The Davis Cup is the ultimate global tennis brand and is a perfect match for quality tourism brands. Tennis is almost universally popular anywhere in the world but it is particularly followed by the more affluent segments. On top of that the Davis Cup format and a team event adds national pride and passion to the mix of brand values and gets global television coverage.
As part of our sponsorship packaged Ecuador had on court advertising in full view of the TV cameras but also we set up a promotional stand at the main entrance to the courts from which we handed out tourist information and merchandising to thousands of fans.
The Ecuador Love Life brand received 4 hours of prime time TV coverage on Swiss National TV, 8,000 ABC1 consumers visited the promotional stand. Significant conversation about Ecuador.travel was generated through Davis Cup social media channels.
